What a year it has been….Happy new year! Let’s hope 2021 can bring hope, health, and some joy to all of us.
Looking back on all of this, I can’t help but feel incredibly lucky. Although that may seem strange to say, let’s look at the positives: no one in my family (to my knowledge) contracted covid-19, I was forced to and able to learn how to more effectively teach remotely, I was able to spend more time with my wife and kids than any of other time in my life, I was able to try all sorts of new recipes in the kitchen, I collaborated with some wonderful friends and colleagues for some online performances, I learned how to edit recordings and videos, I started a series of online viola workshops called BratscheTogether, and I was able to start a new job as a member of the Utah Symphony! And despite not being able to see my parents, my niece, or my wife’s family throughout all of this, I feel most lucky to have been able to cook with my family, make crafts with the kids, start my kids on tennis, and even watch a TV series with my wife (…mind… blown…)!
Man, I miss haircuts.
